Keep Hope in your Heart' by Lisa Taggart, Printables DT

Hello again! What a pleasure it's been to create another project using the fabulously versatile 'Printables' collection from Mixed Up Merchandise. Today's canvas explores the benefit of adding a little extra dimension and creating texture using embossing folders.

As usual, the project begins by selecting the Printables and printing them on to smooth white card.

Who could resist using the image of the pretty girl in the green dress and what better way to feature her than to use an MDF Art Shrine!

How it was done:

Take an 8'x8' canvas, (on this occasion I used mdf) and the components of the mdf shrine. Assemble the back of the shrine using a strong adhesive.

Select embossing folders of your choice and emboss a couple of contrasting patterns on to white card. Then taking the arched front of the shrine, cut one of the patterns to fit. Do the same for the base and stick down. Sand the edges for a smoother finish.

A copper patina effect to mirror the colours of the feature image was achieved by doing the following:

The Printables were cut out, inked, and had their edges distressed using distress ink, alcohol marker and distressing tool in the following way:

The feature image was stuck to the back of the shrine and the arched front was fixed into position.
The accent pieces were gathered. Flowers were made from gold wire. The Printables were arranged on to the background along with pink lace and thread.

The shrine was stuck in place. The various embellishments, including the paper flowers and sentiments were arranged on to the project. Some additional flecks of gold, pink and white paint added extra texture.

The printables are a delight to use and are the perfect accompaniment to any mixed media project.

Till next time,

Lisa xx
